Neut is a company specialising in general orthopaedics. It designs custom orthopaedic devices (prostheses, orthoses and orthopaedic footwear), manufactures and markets off-the-shelf medical devices such as treatment shoes, comfort shoes and minor orthopaedic appliances, and also distributes professional equipment to players in the sector.

Recognised for its technical expertise and the quality of its products, Neut primarily serves a network of resellers and healthcare professionals.

In a context shaped by market evolution and accelerating digitalisation, the company has embarked on a digital transformation aimed at modernising its image, strengthening its competitiveness, optimising product data management and developing new digital services.

Digital redesign: a custom theme built for performance.

Neut entrusted us with the complete creation of a B2B platform, aligned with its digital strategy and growth ambitions. The objective was to implement current e-commerce best practices while taking into account B2B specificities, in order to deliver a smooth, modern and conversion-oriented user experience.

To achieve this, we developed a fully custom theme based on Hyvä, the front-end framework we systematically recommend to our clients for its exceptional technical performance.

As a reminder, Hyvä is above all an approach that prioritises speed, adaptability and ergonomics, without compromise. You benefit from a solid, reliable interface, and teams that gain greater day-to-day autonomy.

But the redesign didn’t stop at the front end. Neut was one of the first projects to benefit from Hyvä Commerce — the solution that goes even further in content editing and creation. A fairly revolutionary change for the sales, marketing and technical teams, who now benefit from a far more ergonomic and intuitive workspace to manage their sales, pages and content. A genuine step up, designed to support Neut over the long term.

ERP connection: the product data challenge

One of the project’s key challenges lay in connecting to the Sage X3 ERP. While this tool efficiently handles pricing and logistics, it was not designed to serve as a marketing database for products sold through trade channels. Product information was poorly structured, sometimes reduced to a single “description” field that merged all data for a given product. This approach was a real obstacle for the e-commerce project, as well as for any future development.

We therefore worked together to determine the best way forward.

Implementing proper, comprehensive catalogue management was essential — and so we advised and supported NEUT in setting up a PIM.

Implementing Akeneo PIM: centralise to manage better

To resolve the data structuring issue on a lasting basis, the choice fell on Akeneo, a Product Information Management (PIM) solution recognised for its ability to centralise and enrich product information. The idea was to have a genuine reference system that structures and feeds the entire digital ecosystem, without relying solely on the ERP.

The flow put in place works as follows: data is first exported from Sage X3, then enriched in Akeneo, before being integrated in a structured way into Magento. Akeneo centralises everything related to products: texts, attributes, media (images, videos, documents), and even relationships between products through the management of simple and composite products. Teams can create attributes in bulk, automate certain repetitive tasks, and update technical sheets or generate catalogues far more quickly than before.

What truly changes the game are the completeness indicators built into the PIM. Teams can track the enrichment level of each product in real time, quickly identify missing information and monitor the progress of updates. A genuine dashboard that ensures ongoing catalogue quality.

Another major advantage: autonomy. With Akeneo, marketing teams can enrich products without ever having to access Sage X3. Everyone has the tool suited to their role, which eliminates the risk of errors and streamlines processes. The PIM also simplifies the translation and localisation of content — a real asset when all the source data is in French.

The data chain is fluid, reliable and scalable, supporting both the customer experience and commercial performance.

A hands-on approach and real-world testing.

Before the project went live, and in addition to the usual testing phases, we wanted to introduce a new testing phase to put the solution up against real-world usage.

These tests were carried out directly at a medical centre in Strasbourg — a regular Neut customer — in order to observe interactions with the platform in a concrete, everyday context. This immersive approach made it possible to gather functional and UX feedback based on real-time usage.

At the end of this phase, a detailed report was shared with the client, along with a list of areas for improvement to be addressed before go-live. And beyond the adjustments made ahead of launch, we came away with a great list of ideas for new features to be incorporated into future Neut developments.
