La Perle de Marie-Jo is a Breton family business specialising in the production of flat and cupped oysters from Cancale, as well as AOP mussels from the Mont Saint-Michel bay. For four generations, this family of sea farmers has perpetuated a traditional craft to offer high-quality seafood. Based in Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes, they offer fresh products sourced directly from the rich waters of the bay.
A matter of speed.
When we took on this project, the idea was to support La Perle de Marie-Jo in the evolution of its e-commerce site by placing delivery speed at the heart of the customer experience. The first in its sector to offer 24-hour seafood delivery, this service is made possible thanks to Chronopost and Chronofresh, which guarantee impeccable freshness right to the customer’s door. For any order placed before 1pm, the seafood arrives the following day in France, Belgium and Luxembourg — a treat for even the most discerning seafood lovers. As soon as we took on the project, we carried out a version upgrade to the latest Adobe Commerce (Magento) release. This migration was essential for security reasons and to move away from an outdated version that was limiting the possibilities for future development.
Hosting that keeps pace with the tides.
Managing a seafood e-commerce site means dealing with very pronounced peaks in activity: the end-of-year holiday season concentrates a significant share of revenue, and the slightest slowdown on the site can be costly. To address this reality, we supported La Perle de Marie-Jo in migrating its hosting to Upsun. This was no minor change: the previous hosting provider offered little visibility on costs and no flexibility to absorb traffic spikes. With Upsun, everything changes. The platform makes it possible to scale resources on demand, in real time, without over-provisioning for the entire year.
The result: an infrastructure that scales up for peak periods and scales back down immediately afterwards, with no waste. Precise control over hosting costs, and the certainty that the site holds up under load when every order counts.
Import/export system optimisation
To deliver on this ambitious logistics promise, in-depth work was carried out on data management. The system update facilitated the automatic integration of Chronofresh files into Magento, with all information placed in the right locations, without any manual handling. In the other direction, custom exports were configured to allow the operational team to sort orders by contract type: delivery day, time slot, logistical specificities. Everything is organised for fast, error-free processing.
A checkout designed for personalisation
Among the major interventions, we resolved complex bugs related to order exports, particularly within the checkout funnel. Before our involvement, certain orders were not reaching their final status in the admin panel, disrupting the entire chain: exports, preparation, delivery. A critical issue for a business whose promise is built on speed and logistical reliability.
To address this need, a fully customisable Chronofresh block was integrated into the order funnel. When confirming their purchase, customers can now choose their exact delivery date, time slot and address. On the back-office side, the team simply exports orders day by day to automatically retrieve all the contracts and information needed for the correct processing of shipments.

Enhancements to improve the user experience
Beyond corrective maintenance, the platform has benefited from significant functional improvements. The cart page was completely overhauled, both on mobile and desktop, to optimise the purchasing journey and reduce abandonments. Additional blocks were integrated into the payment section, with options that can be managed directly by the La Perle de Marie-Jo team (such as the Chronofresh block), providing greater flexibility and autonomy in the day-to-day management of the site.
The site is now live, modern, stable and scalable, capable of supporting La Perle de Marie-Jo’s growth while delivering a flawless customer experience.
